It’s official, we’ve gained another real estate expert… Jesse Carlson joins the team! He brings an amazing energy and a very refreshing background that we couldn’t be more excited to integrate into our Real Estate Nation fam. Jesse sat down for a quick interview to share a little bit more about himself. Keep reading to get to know Jesse better!
How long have you been in the real estate industry?
I’ve been in the real estate industry for 3 years now.
What office do you work out of?
Crocus Hill on Grand Ave in St. Paul.
What’s your favorite thing about the industry?
My favorite thing about the real estate industry is the variety. The fact that I can do anything on any given day is just incredible. It could be strategy, artistic or creative, talking with folks, or even just being in my office. I love that each day brings something new and exciting!
What made you decide to get into the business?
Honestly, I wasn’t sure the exact way to go during the pandemic. I was working in restaurants for about 7 years and when it hit I ended up working a food truck. It wasn’t bad until I worked an 18 hour day. I needed to do some soul searching. I took some personality tests and one of them identified me as a “Campaigner”… whatever that means! It said that real estate was a job that could work well for that personality. So, I walked into the closest office that I could find, interviewed, and here we are today!
What’s the hardest part about your job?
The hardest part about the job, particularly in the early years, was maintaining the confidence for stick-to-it-ness. To stick to the routine of sticking to the routine of doing the transactions step by step in a perfect order. Now that I’m on a team, that will come much easier!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Where do I see myself in 5 years? Selling a lot of houses and doing a lot of charity.
Where do you live?
I live in Hamline Midway and I love it!
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Apple Valley.
What are you doing when you aren’t selling real estate?
When I’m not selling real estate, you can find me up on any karaoke stage, doing improv, doing the occasional theater, playing board games, chess, and just getting out and about.
Name a person that inspires you and why
Sam Reich is a big inspiration to me. He’s the president of dropout.tv, a comedy streaming service that has taken over the CollegeHumor brand. He leads his studio with a “Farm to Table” media company ethos, and wants folks to know and love the workers who create the shows they make. Also, he’s VERY funny.

Do I have pets? Let me tell you. I have a cat and his name is David Foster Wallace – the guy never shuts up.
