Happenin’ Halloween Drinks

Happenin’ Halloween drinks coming right up! We’ve discovered a delicious Halloween cocktail for parents and a fun yet healthy Halloween drink for the kids! Whether you are hosting or attending a costume party, partaking in a small get together, or just hanging out at home, these recipes are a fabulous + freaky addition for spooky season!

While the cocktail is inspired by a Half Baked Harvest recipe called Sleepy Hallow, the children’s drink comes from a Sugar And Charm recipe featuring a punch with just three ingredients. The Sleepy Hallow cocktail incorporates a honey/rosemary syrup along with cinnamon and sugar that gives it such a warm Autumn essence. It’s the bright orange color of the kids’ punch combined with the creepy crawly gummies that give it a festive feel. You will be amazed by how tasty this treat is even though it has a decent amount of pure carrot juice in it – your kids will never know! It’s the carrot juice that really gives it the vibrant color.

happenin' Halloween drinks

Servings – 6

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup honey
  • A few sprigs of fresh rosemary
  • Zest from 1 orange
  • Cinnamon & sugar to rim the glass
  • ¼ cup of pomegranate/cranberry juice
  • 5 to 3 shots of tequila – we used – (original recipe called for less than 2 but didn’t seem to be enough for 6 drinks)
  • A couple dashes of orange bitters
  • A dash of ground cinnamon
  • Fake sparkling wine – we used a pomegranate/apple flavor – (original recipe called for sparkling water here which could be great as well, but the sparkling wine added more of a fizzy punch)

Instructions

  1. First step is to make the honey/rosemary syrup goodness that gives this drink such a warm Autumn essence
    1. Bring ½ cup of water, ¼ cup of honey, and a spring of the fresh rosemary to a boil
    2. After boiling for 2-3 minutes, add the zest from 1 orange and then remove from the heat to set aside and let cool
  2. In a cocktail shaker, combine the ¼ cup pomegranate/cranberry juice, 2.5-3 shots of tequila, a couple dashes of orange bitters, a dash of cinnamon, 1-2 tablespoons of the honey/rosemary syrup and ice.
  3. Shake to combine
  4. Wet the rim of a glass then rub in cinnamon & sugar
  5. Strain cocktail into glass and top with the fake sparking pomegranate-apple wine
  6. Garnish glass with half a sprig of rosemary – light on fire for a smoky effect (we did not try this but definitely think it could make for an excellent and festive addition!
