Gifting affordable housing!

Gifting Affordable Housing

Interfaith Outreach “works across sectors to help fulfill a basic but critical need in our community: Safe, stable, affordable housing.” Overall, it’s safe to say they are experts in gifting affordable housing! They sure do excel in helping those in need and we love to support them in doing so. Recently, we volunteered to help IOCP in their efforts to provide household essential kits for families moving into affordable housing units in Plymouth. We had some fun shopping around for the list of items needed and then putting together the “buckets” that would then go to each household.

This was just a jumpstart to a mission that is expected to be ongoing as families continue to be placed. Reach out to us if you are interested in getting involved! We love all things real estate AND helping those in need.

Interfaith has many different avenues for giving back to the community and helping those in need. If you’re interested in other ways to get involved, especially during the holiday season, keep reading!

The biggest initiative this time of year is the Sleep Out Campaign which you have surely probably heard us talk about before. Our team lead, Ben Johnson, has been an avid supporter of this program for many years now in which he raises an impressive amount of money and then matches it for a donation to the cause to help provide affordable housing to local, deserving families. Here’s his success from last year!

Sleep Out

There is still time to donate – donations up to $50,000 made to Sleep Out before 11:59pm tonight (12/9) will be matched! As IOCP states, “With your help,Interfaith can respond to this need – by providing emergency financial assistance, connections to affordable housing, access to food, and so much more.”

Thinking this might be something you’d like to be a part of? DONATE NOW while you still have time!

Of course, there are numerous other ways you can help whether it’s food shelf donations, clothing or household donations, or volunteer work. See donation opportunities here and volunteer opportunities here.

So, what’s the impact of all this? Here are some inspiring stats from Interfaith: “With your support, we are able to provide on-site support services to more than 900 households in 10 affordable housing communities across Plymouth and Medina, including program referrals, community connection opportunities, emergency financial assistance, and so much more. By working together with our partners, we’ve also helped add nearly 350 affordable rental units to our service area. Affordable housing enables increased local purchasing power, job creation and new tax revenues. It provides all residents, of all ages, with a better path for a hopeful future.”
